After a lovely breakfast spread at Pension Mayer, we set out on a scenic drive to the Julian Alps and the Italian ski area, Tarvaisio. Our first stop was Kranska Gora, a ski resort area where we walked around a lake with clear blue waters and enjoyed some coffee. Due to a lack of signage savvy, we managed to drive through the pedestrian only village (Imagine a car driving through Whistler Village 😂) and had several odd looks.

A half-hour drive brought us to Tarvisio, a small Italian ski town with ten ski lifts, popular among Milan’s residents. We had lunch at a rustic restaurant called Alte Hutte. Despite getting lost, Apple Maps saved the day. It was nice to speak a bit of Italian again, even if limited to "Grazie," "Buongiorno," and "vino."

On the drive back, we stopped in Mojstrana and drove through the towering Alps, then headed to Lesce airport for James to get his flying fix. Although he didn’t fly, we enjoyed a glass of wine by the tarmac and took in the sights of the small airport.

Back at the hotel, we relaxed on the deck, reflecting on our adventurous day.
