Woke up at Penzion Mayer to a delightful breakfast spread. Even though it was a rainy day, we decided to make the most of it. After a leisurely morning, we grabbed our umbrellas and set out for a trek to Bled Castle, perched high on a hill.
We strolled through the town and along the beautiful lakeshore. The water was stunningly blue, and it was peaceful with no power boats allowed, only electric and rowboats.
When we reached the base of the castle, we began the steep 15-minute climb to the top. The effort was worth it! Bled Castle offers amazing views of Lake Bled and has many interesting exhibits showcasing the history of the town, from its early days as a spa destination to the craft of making wooden archery bows.
After exploring the castle, we walked back down and ducked into an off the path coffee spot. The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing back at our place before we headed our for dinner to an awesome restaurant next door at Penzion Berc.
Despite the rain, it was a fun day filled with exploration, history, relaxation, and of course… more food :)
