We started off with a brisk hike up to the Ljubljana Castle, where it was International Castle Day. We thought it might be a quiet morning, but it turned out to be quite busy with lots of tourists and crowds. The castle was lovely and quite contemporary. They had done a lot of work to fix it up. Some of the exhibits were interesting, but the most notable was the puppetry exhibit. We had a quick coffee and then made our way back down to the city, where we walked to a large park that housed the Graphic Design Museum and the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia. The history museum was extremely educational, teaching us much about the evolution of Yugoslavia, the impact of communism, and the various battles that took place over the course of WWI and WWII. We enjoyed a hearty lunch of fries, chicken strips, and a beer at the local sports arena beside the museum. Then, we walked back to town where James had set a time to fly in an A320 flight simulator… wow! After the “flight”, we had a drink at a locals bar on the river and returned to the flat. Another full day of MANY steps!
